Long Time, No Update

Hey Journal,
I havn't updated in quite a while. I finished out processing from Mannhiem, left my girlfriend there who I will hopefully be seeing agian in June. Then I came home. It has been an eventful month home. I got Thanksgiving dinner from my family, complete with a bird... I helped my Little brother get home to school when his car broke down in Somerset, I bought a shit ton of minis ::laughs::
I got new pajamas, which are wonderful and warm... Needed them given how cold mom keeps the place, and I have had fun. Now I am looking at getting to Maryland, and getting my family housing in order. I need to file my forms and records with the group that runs the govt. housing on post. I am tired though, trying to get back on that damn early morning work schedule. (wish me luck, I need it)
I miss you all,
I am on yahoo now, almost all the time given my cellphone's capability to run Messenger Mobile...

Another Samhaine Another Year

Well it is another year that has passed on the Lunar Calendar. I spent the last two Samhaine in Iraq, and so this year, has been a definite improvement. I see myself in this last year having made mistakes, correct decisions and hard decisions. I lost my father in the last year, a man who had more effect on my life then I ever realized till he was sick. I miss him terribly but there is nothing to do for it, but try to learn to love those around me more obviously. I also lost my Uncle Jerry, a man who had another effect on my life, giving me education, pointing me in the right direction in my life time and time again. I will miss him as well, but I learned from the lose to value those gifts of education, and to try and learn every day.
I am dedicating this year to learning, and spending whatever time I can with my daughter. Sylvia is an important part of my life and I don't know where I would start in trying to love anything more.

Stressors

So, here is my life in a nutshell, the movers come on Monday to pack most of my belongings to be shipped to my new duty station, I still have to pack everything that is being turned in or packed for a 4 week live-out-a-suitcase marathon seperately to keep it from shipping. My mom is refusing to do anyhting to provide income for herself, which means I am going to have to do somthing to remedy the situation.

I have to:
-Ship goods on Monday/Teusday
-Prep my stuff for turn in, and turn it in, outprocess mannhiem.
-Get my mom's roof fixed
-Get the old house's roof and waterline fixed
-Get my mom's land surveyed and fenced
-Have someone come out and look at the pond and figure out if the damage done by my neihbor is reverseable (they clear cut the hillside above the pond, silt damage...)
-Have Elf_baby in for Thanksgiving at my Mom's.
-Buy thanksgiving Dinner (mom doesn't feelup to cooking this year).
-Buy a Car...
-Get a cellphone
-Get an apartment/Barracks room. My housing is still up in the air, and I don't know if they will let me have even offpost family housing since I only have Sylvia for 126 days out of 365. The army is arbitrary about things like this somtimes, and it really sucks.
-Get internet/phone hookup,
-Prep for various visits,
-Learn my new Job at my new unit and make myself indispenseable.
-Get into a Martial Arts class,
-Lose 30 lbs and gain however much muscle mass I can in my upper body by March for MarCon cosplay.
-Find the local SCA near Ft Meade.

So here is my call out to all my friends, family and hell anyone who might read this. If you are in the KY area (McCreary Co.) and might be willing to enter into a lease in which you pay no rent, but do construction, and land management work, in lieu of rent, for a year, contact me at my username @gmail.com.
If you are able to do any of the construction labeled above or know of a trustworthy contractor in the McCreary area, please contact me.
And finally, anyoone know where a guy can just relax for about two hours. I am seriously gonna need it...

To all my friends in McCreary Co, and KY in general, (or Scott Co Tn), This is the official notice, I am coming in on or around mid Novemember. If you want to visit with me, my time is going to be precious, I will need to actually schedule visits, so contact me if you want to see me and we will work it out. I miss you all but I have to do it this way if I am gonna get everything done.

Weekly Update

Well this is a four day weekend for those of us in EUCOM (European Command), and so I am updating on Thursday instead of Friday. This week I managed to do push ups in PT with the rest of the command, this is the first time I have managed it in almost a year due to my wrist. I walked 7 miles today according to my pedometer and am quite happy with that result. I also was wieghed and taped this week (being in the military is kinda like a dirt cheap personal trainer...), and have lost 3 lbs, and an inch and a half around my waist meaning I am back in tolerance for the standards!!!

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Corebook

I GOT IT!!!

And it is awesome! Some of the immediate changes that stick out, Wizards and Sorcerers are at a d6 hit die. Fighters have high level play capability. Rogues are absolutly deadly at high level with they're new Master Strike class ability, and Paladins now truly Smite Evil, rather then just severely inconveniencing them.

I Has a New Game System, and it is Pathfinder.

With that said, who is up for some play by post. Once I get my internet in my room, I plan to run a game Sundays via Yahoo messenger. Hope to see you there. (Drop me a line on Yahoo messenger if you are interested).

Update on Me

Okie then...
This is an update on my situations and life to date. I got home from my E-Leave for my Dad's funeral. Got home safe, flight was long and annoying but I didn't lose anything this time.
I am working on my divorce.
My arm is out of the cast. I am in a brace for the time being when I need it, but I am encouraged to work the wrist as much as I can stand, so my typing time is back up to par finally. I got my new GI Joe toys in for the 25th anniversary. I am not collecting the whole line, just troopbuilding for Cobra, and getting some Joes I didn't have, and of course, all the versions of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow...

I am working on the divorce... It, hurts, but I am alive, and well. I am working on getting it set up to keep Elf_baby under Tri-Care

my surgery; UPDATE

well,
Surgery went brillantly, and I was in a brace for some time. Now I am in a nifty new cast. I can type a bit more with it and play my FPS, and City! :D I got back to work tommorrow but I am on a VERY restrictive profile, so no worries about me re-injuring myself huh.

hey all,

Mark a-typing away with one hand here to tell you all about my wrist surgery. The good news is, it worked... they tightened the tendon with no complications :D

the bad news is I am in a rather restrictive brace for the foreseeable future. I am hoping to get better at typing and the like with it on... but it kinda sucks...

two weeks and I get the stitches out... 8 weeks I should be braceless... 12 weeks and I will have a profile n thats all

The Surgery for Elf_baby went above and beyond expectations. She is hale and healthy, recovering from the incision in her leg, but she has teh patch in her heart. The pulse already slowed to a more normal rate, and already her EKG already lost the echo!

My Dad

Hey all,
So, when it rains, it pours, especailly on poor elves...
My Dad has malignant tumors throughout his body, spreading from lung cancer, I just got the red cross message today to come home. I am, not shocked, but certainly saddened. Especially with the timing, considering this means I have to leave Elf_baby and her mother to face the lesser of Elf_baby's surgerys possibly without me. I am not sure how to make the decisions that seem to be facing me but I am apprently doing an ok job of it.

I seriously feel like a two ton sculpture held together by dental floss and gum at the moment. It is like everything in my life has gone to hell in a handbasket. ::sighs:: the good news is is that I am not letting it defeat me. I am stronger then any problem I have ever had thrown my way. I will survive it, learn from it, and become stronger for it.

Today, 16 Apr, 2009, my marriage ends. My friendship with her begins anew. But my marriage as it has been is over.

Friends, Parents, and Housemates, but not husband/wife, we dissolved and absolved our handfasting before the gods.

I think, in all it is for the best. The great thing about handfastings, they are things that can change, grow, and move on if needed.

I am incredibly sad at this turn of events, and I can't even begin to describe how much, and how long, I have cried and worried over this. Now there is a hole, where my love use to be, and I walk into the world knowing that the knowing I have gained... will help in my life. That my Friend will help me, and walk with me as that. That while we might be seperate, my daughter will have 2 parents, who love her.

I can't explain why or how I feel this way. I just do.

Hello everyone,
Today we recieved some worrying news. My daughter elf_baby, was seen by the cardiologist in town. He was very nice but gave us very worrying news. elf_baby's heart murmur is both bigger then previously though and requires near immediate surgery. She goes in on the 5th of next month for an attempt at the least invasive fix for the problem. A cardiocathiter(SP) will be inserted and a valve meant to close the hole will be inserted in place. If this is a go, she will be fine. If it does not work (and we have been warned it might not), she will have to have open heart surgery to fix the issue.

Prayers, good energy, healing/protective magicks, and just good thoughts are all very much appreciated.

Joy of Joy!
City of Heroes Issue 14 hits today, starting at 0600 CST. The servers will be down for 5 hours or so, and then it is time to create some missions.

I am planning on creating both a "History of Weapon One" mission arc to stay private on my client side, and also a recruitment mission for the Weapon Project that I am working on for publishing.

I also want to do a Mission arc based on the original concepts behind the Final Fantasy plot.
IE. "You must reunite the crystals of the elements before XYZ Apocalypse happens because said crystals are missing/out of alignment/stolen. I am seriously considering making the primary badguys start out as Outcast, hellions, trolls, and clockwork all set at higher levels.

My Age of Worms campaign just hit 8th level, and we are headed into the Hall of Harsh Reflections module. I am going to have to slow the character progression for the players as the Unearthed Arcana XP variant is giving XP at a higher rate then expected. I am also hoepfully going to have a full party again as we have a new player coming in, and an old player returning!

my player's party consists of:
A Cleric/Wizard of "The Way" (N based deity), played by Frank, who has the Nice and Honest traits... no seriously! Player also controls Husk, the Lizardfolk Ftr, as a granted cohort*
A Ranger/Initiate of the Bow, played by Steven, Player also controls Meriel, Sorcerer as a granted cohort*
A two weapon swashbuckler (Deceased in the Mistmarsh)played by Brandon, Player also controls Albere' a ranged FTR as a granted cohort*.

What we need:
Dedicated Rogue/Trapfinder (will be covered by granted cohort soon if nothing else)

*Granted cohorts are NPCs who the players have control of in combat, but I control when it comes to level progression, personality, and actions outside of combat, up to and including leaving. They do not count against Leadership, but also are not loyal as per leadership, and can count as a follower killed for the purposes of dropping the leadership score.

I am playing Magic the Gathering again. It is strange to get back into after all this time, but the new Timeshift set pulled me back in by putting cards I am use to, and want to know/see back into the playset! Expect deck lists, and the occasional play report from me as i play in casual fashion.

And FINALLY, I am getting an Xbox 360 hopefully soonish. I am also looking into getting the new pokemon Platinum game, merely to refresh me on the whole of playing Pokemon again.
Xbox I am getting for game selection for the whole, adult game selection. I am keeping my Wii for both family games, and for the fact that it is DAMNED fun! I am however, finally getting rid of older consoles and console games, switching entirely to emulator for those. On the chopping block is my copy of Zelda II, Final Fantasy I, and Legend of Zelda. Dear Journal,
Two days ago I got home for the first time in 3 years. Home the McCreary Co. where I grew up, thrived even. This place, is backwoods, is boondocks, and is Country, but I love it. It is so quiet out here. We are the only people in the whole of the hotel we are staying at. ::laughs:: ie the service is awesome, seriously.
I am working out in my head how to deal with a conundrum. My father offered me the old house today, along with use of half the family land. In all seriousness it is nothing to scoff at. That much land and a house to boot is as Bridgette put it quite aptly, is "Everything we could ask for on a silver platter, covered in shit..."
To further complicate matters, my father just got laid off from his work last week. While they claim to have enough savings and the like to due them till doomsday, (along with the sincerely insane amount of welfare/unemployment/Social Security he is going to get) I can't help but be wary. My little brother and I might have come up with a plan to help, but it involves renting the old house out to people, a rather iffy circumstance in a good area, and unfortunatly this is no longer a "Good" area. Drugs are rampant in McCreary co. so much so that it is a local joke.
I am so worried about all this that I totally missed out on a date with C. and wonked that whole deal all out of whack.
We are going to talk to my dad about it tomorrow.

In other news, I am upset. ask me why...

I am Home from Iraq, Finally,
I got home at around dusk, on the 25th of December. Bridgette and I came home and snuggled for the whole night with the baby, and had a wonderful dinner, and opened our Yule gifts.
It is good to be home,
It is Good to eat food without sand in it,
It is good to have a bath!
It is good to hold the baby
It is good to be home....
